Welsh Government fund creates 300 new tourism jobs across Wales

The Tourism Investment Support Scheme (TISS) has allocated £3.8million to tourism businesses in Wales since April 2011, creating and safeguarding 350 jobs. The fund is open to existing and new businesses for the purpose of upgrading the quality of facilities and increasing capacity where there is a gap in the market.

Elvas added to UNESCO World Heritage list

A small Portuguese city has been declared a new UNESCO World Heritage Site, bringing the total in the country to 13. The garrison border town of Elvas and its fortifications were added by the World Heritage Committee due to it being an “outstanding example of a garrison town and its dry-ditched bulwarked defence system, which developed in response to disruptions in the balance of power within 17th century Europe”.
